A lifelong dream to learn martial arts has come to fruition in the Summer of 2002. What had begun as a health and fitness schedule transformed into a daily ritual and a huge part of my family’s life. It all began with my brother, Mike and I searching for a martial art school to train. The very first school we came across was Nexus Taekwondo. We looked no further. We knew from the beginning that we have found the right school.
Nexus Taekwondo has changed my life in ways I never would have imagined. Nexus Ideology handed down to me and my family by my Master, Paris Amani has become the very foundation of what I know to be True Martial Arts. Because of Master Amani’s tutelage I wanted nothing but to share his beliefs and knowledge with everyone, beginning with my family.
What I had envisioned for myself of becoming a martial artist had completely changed from simply just being a student to being an instructor. This was totally unimaginable coming up in the ranks. I did remember every time I moved up, Master Amani would whisper to me “I have plans for you, Dennis.” Now I know what he meant.
Rising to the rank of Black Belt is the beginning of my journey to become a Sa Bum Nim, one who leads by example as taught to me by my Master.
I have made a life changing decision to become an instructor of Nexus Ideology. The Nexus way includes transforming people’s lives, helping peers and students become better people. The reward in this is immeasurable. It is what I live for, my passion. I have always been someone who is giving by nature, but now, I have the ultimate tools, Nexus methodologies used to temper me as a Black Belt are now my blueprints and standing orders to help my family, peers, and students. This is far more rewarding than anything I have ever done in my life or career in the aerospace industry.
I have been an Aerospace Technician by trade, responsible for countless accomplishments including integrating critical systems in “Pathfinder Modules, Genesis I and Genesis II – Bigelow Aerospace”, but ultimately Nexus Taekwondo instructor by heart.
